One of the most important weeks of the year is upon us. What one word would you use to describe the feeling that Easter gives you?
Is it: excitement, humility, joy, freedom, alive, loved, reborn, miraculous, grateful, elation, anticipation, blessed? (enough choices for you? LOL)
I, personally, cannot seem to narrow them down to just one, but instead, I experience all of these emotions. With that being said, there’s no doubt that I am totally anticipating the celebration of this coming Easter Sunday with all of my Christian friends and family! If you are not thrilled about this inevitable event, that is soon to take place, now would be a great time to find out why?
If you have no idea why you aren’t thrilled, like myself, let me elaborate on my passion for this holiday. It can pretty much be summed up in one word…JESUS! But, if you’ve never heard the good news aka “the gospel”, lend me your ear for just a moment. The Death, The Burial, and The Resurrection, is one way “the gospel” is described in the Bible.
- The Death–Jesus died for us (me AND you). Romans 5:8 says, But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
- The Burial-The burial of Jesus refers to the burial of the body of Jesus after crucifixion.
- The Resurrection-The best news of all….Jesus was resurrected…raised from the dead!
1Corinthians 15:3b-4...that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures...
So now you know the reason for my love of Easter. It is a day of celebration for what Christ did for me. When Jesus rose from the grave on that third day, He sealed my fate! He conquered death! He won the victory! I have put my faith in Him, therefore, I can now anticipate victory over the grave. Jesus’ resurrection gives us hope in His promise, that, if we believe, we will also be resurrected one day. Hallelujah!!!
John 11:25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
