The battle may be raging but the war’s already won!!! We sang a song a few Sunday’s ago, with these lyrics. It’s a song by Casting Crowns. It has a catchy beat and I love the lyrics because it talks about Jesus being the light of the world that WILL shine, and that the darkness will NEVER OVERCOME.
There truly is a cosmic battle that wages around us, but the victory is sealed! I am so thankful and blessed to be a child of The One True King! The Alpha & the Omega…the beginning and the end! The Ultimate Overcomer!
An overcomer is defined by dictionary.com as:
1. a person who prevails in spite of opposition, difficulties, weakness, etc.
2. a person who defeats someone or something in a conflict or struggle
We can be overcomers, thanks to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. There are battles raging all around us, as well as inside of us. We face physical struggles involving our homes, jobs, families, etc…and we fight the spiritual forces of evil, which are unseen. We battle for the hearts of those around us by fighting for them in prayer...and we battle for ourselves the same way.
This is where we as Christians can make a difference in the lives of others and the world around us…and it is our duty to pray. And there’s hope…Praise God, we are more than conquerors through Christ!
I have faced many battles mentally and physically throughout my life, as I’m sure most of you have. I have battled mental illness since I was a teenager. I suffered in silence and struggled not only with the disease, but with the stigma surrounding it. My greatest battle, by far, was with the loss of my 8 yr. old little girl. Talk about a battle!!! I can’t even put the depth of mental, emotional and physical pain into words. I have no doubt that the prayers of hundreds of people helped me through this most difficult time.
Ephesians 6:18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
We, as children of God/Christians, have already won the war through the blood of Jesus Christ. We do need to remember, though, that there is a battle raging all around us. Satan and his angels are trying to steal, kill and destroy…families, testimonies, and lives, daily. But we can be hope-full and encouraged during this war on us here on earth because we know the enemy has already been defeated. We have Victory in Jesus!!! Thank you, Lord! If you have truly given yourself wholeheartedly to Jesus, then we are overcomers through Christ together!
If we are going to rise above the hardships we face, endure until the end, and finish the course, we must overcome the challenges we find in our Christian walk. But, praise God, we do not have to do it alone. The enemy will put up a fight, but he is no match for Christ in you!
John 16:33
