So I was driving home from town, yesterday evening & my mind started to wander. My cousin just lost her 10yr old nephew in a tragic car accident and it comes to my mind every time I get in the car. It makes me so sad. So I thought about him and then I started thinking about Laken…my 8yr old daughter that I lost to a tragic golf cart accident in 2008. The devil started working hard and my mind went straight to sad memories and I started getting upset. I immediately said a prayer and asked Jesus to help me not think bad/sad thoughts and get down in the dumps. I was listening to my favorite Spotify playlist on shuffle and almost immediately one of my most favorite songs came on and I started singing along and the Holy Spirit just filled my heart with joy and gratefulness. He reminded me that when I feel broken beyond repair, he can heal me. And when I am wounded he will mend me. I couldn’t help myself…I just started praising the Lord! If any of you passed me, you probably wondered what I was doing with my hands up…(mostly just one hand up and one on the wheel lol).

So the song was “Mended” by Matthew West.
Some of the lyrics are:
How many times can one heart break?
It was never supposed to be this way.
Look in the mirror, but you find someone you never thought you’d be. Oh, but I can still recognize
The one I love in your tear-stained eyes.
I know you might not see him now, but lift your eyes to me. When you see broken beyond repair
I see healing beyond belief
When you see too far gone
I see one step away from home
When you see nothing but damaged goods
I see something good in the making
I’m not finished yet
When you see wounded, I see mended

The song that followed is also one of my favorites. “Eye of the Storm” by Ryan Stevenson. I’m not gonna quote the verses because it is a long song and I can’t pick just one verse because they are all so good. But basically it says that God remains in control in the eye of the storm. He is always with us. He’s our anchor. When we have trouble all around us and our flesh is weak and we’ve lost all hope…His love surrounds us and He is still there holding on to us. WOW! The power that songs have! Praise & worship songs can lift you so high. The next and last song I heard before I got home was “Just Be Held” by Casting Crowns….another amazing song that I love. The just of this song is to “let go & let God”. When life happens and you’re tired of fighting, give it all to God. Just let Him hold you! He reminds us to keep our eyes on the cross and that He loves us and always will. It says to just surrender all…lay all your burdens down and let them go…and just be held. If you have never heard these songs, I promise you it’s worth 15 minutes of your time to listen to them while listening closely to the lyrics. One way God speaks to us is through song. He always knows the words we need to hear and exactly when we need to hear them. I am so blessed & grateful that I have an almighty God that mends me when I am broken, holds me when I am weak and can no longer stand, is my anchor in the storms of life, and surrounds me with His love! That’s my story….that’s what Jesus, my savior, does for me on the daily! Do you have a story like that? If you don’t….you can! ❤️
I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving. Psalm69:30
