Merry Christmas…NOT Happy Holidays. The world we live in continues to do everything possible to remove Christ from our lives. I mean really? Why is Christmas even called Christmas? Duh!, because it’s about Christ! Jesus Christ! Christmas is time to reflect on & celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior! The one who chose to leave heaven to come down to this sinful earth…not as a King or a Lord…but to be born as an innocent and helpless baby and live as a man in the flesh, although He knew His fate. He chose His fate for us! HE gave HIS life so that we could have life. John 3:16 says, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
When I go out in public I always remember to say Merry Christmas. When someone says Happy Holidays to me, I respond with Merry Christmas to you! I mean the word CHRISTmas is a testimony in itself! JESUS CHRIST is the reason for the season people!
Not only has this world tried to take Christ out of Christmas, it has turned Christmas into a selfish time, as well as, trying to take our focus off the reason we celebrate to start with, by gift giving and getting. Often it’s all about what “I” want for Christmas. I’m definitely not trying to preach to you or act like I haven’t fallen into the same trap as almost everyone else. I’m not gonna lie…I do not make God my only priority at Christmas, sadly. It’s hard not to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of buying gifts for our family and friends, especially for children.
I feel like we (especially us parents) try to make Christmas a magical time. Like buying and giving or receiving gifts will make it more magical. We want to bring happiness to others because it brings us happiness in return. But the truth is, buying and receiving gifts of this world will only bring temporary happiness. We need to teach our children the true meaning of Christmas while they are young so that they can pass it on to others and someday to their own children.
There’s only one gift that someone can receive that will bring eternal happiness and true joy. The gift that God gave us so many years ago when He sent His son to this earth. The gift that He is still giving for anyone that will reach out and receive it. That’s the GIFT of Salvation! And it’s FREE! Romans 6:23 says For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
If you’ve never accepted the gift of Salvation through Jesus, I encourage you to. When you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior you receive the gift of eternal life and an ever-loving Father. You will experience immediate abundant joy and your life will be forever changed.
I pray that you all have a Very Merry CHRISTmas!!!
