I sometimes wonder how I would feel if I was put in the same position as Daniel, in the Bible, when he was lowered into that den full of hungry lions. Would I be scared? Would I be worried about being eaten alive? Would my faith in God be shaken? It’s easy for me to speak quickly and say that I’m sure I would respond like Daniel did. But, the fact is, I don’t think anyone can speak truthfully about what they would do unless they were actually placed in that situation.

Daniel survived in that lions den because his life belonged to God, and therein lies the victory. Daniel’s faith in God never waivered. From the get-go, his fate was never in the hands of men. Daniel survived by placing his trust in God and his faith in God’s promises. God provides specific promises in His word that we might understand His nature and trust in Him.

Psalm 46:1 says, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

In devastating times, God’s promises are essential to our spiritual welfare. We are to use God’s word as a guide and instruction book to life. God wants the best for each of us. We aren’t promised that we will not have bad or hard times in life. But instead, God reminds us in multiple places in the Bible (His word!) that these trials are part of our journey. They make us stronger, help us to build up our endurance and increase our faith.

Nahum 1:7 says, The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.

Today, March 14, 2020, we are facing a National State of Emergency due to COVID-19, AKA Coronavirus, outbreak “WORLDWIDE”!  Everywhere we look there is pandemonium! I am here to tell you that God’s word and prophecies are real and are being fulfilled before our very eyes!

Matthew 24:7 says, For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.

Pestilence in this context means disease outbreaks on a massive scale. The “Free Dictionary” gives the definition of pestilence as:  any epidemic outbreak of a deadly and highly infectious disease.

As a Christian, I feel it is my duty to have faith and trust in God to bring me and my family through this devastating situation we are facing right now. I may not have someone throwing me into a den of lions, but I would say this is a pretty stressful and catastrophic event that I, along with all of you, are in. The devil is going to try his hardest to tear us down during this time of weakness. If we allow it, we will be consumed with anxiety and fear. But if we will trust in God and look to Him in faith, He will lead us, guide us, protect us, comfort us, and keep all the other promises He’s given us throughout His word.

Phillipians 4:6 says, Be anxious for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God.

Do you know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior? If not, there is no better time to accept Him than now. I will be praying that God will bless each of you. Love in Christ!
